We’ve installed a 60kW solar program to power terminal operations and reduce our reliance on traditional energy sources. This investment in renewable energy enables Shute Harbour Marine Terminal to operate with significantly lower carbon emissions, helping preserve our pristine surroundings for future generations.
Protecting Marine Life
As stewards of one of Australia’s most sensitive marine environments, we’ve implemented a range of initiatives to reduce ecological impact:
- No-fishing zones around berthing areas prevent discarded gear from harming marine animals.
- Sensor lighting across the precinct reduces energy usage.
- Stormwater filter bags prevent debris runoff into the harbour.
Containers for Change
We proudly participate in Queensland’s Containers for Change initiative. Marked recycling bins throughout the terminal and secure tenant areas make it easy for visitors and operators to recycle bottles and cans. The result: less waste to landfill and a cleaner harbourfront precinct.
Sustainable Infrastructure
From upgraded pontoons to environmentally safe refuelling protocols, every infrastructure decision is made with environmental longevity in mind. Our Operating Environmental Management Plan is reviewed annually to ensure best practice in all areas - from waste management to staff training.
